Story

I am an engineering leader, currently AVP Engineering at the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) in Bengaluru. RBIH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India, set up to speed up innovation in India’s financial sector. I work on the platform, infrastructure, reliability, and security side of the platforms it builds, such as the Unified Lending Interface (ULI), MuleHunter.AI, and the Digital Payments Intelligence Platform (DPIP).

Before RBIH, I spent more than nine years in Berlin. I started there as a DevOps engineer and went on to lead SRE, platform, and security teams at PlayStation, TIDAL, and Paymenttools (REWE Digital), across payments, music streaming, cloud gaming, e-commerce, and energy. In mid-2026 I moved back to India to join RBIH. The thread through all of it is the same: building systems that line up reliability and security goals with measurable business outcomes, and growing the teams that run them.

I care about clarity, good systems, and work that actually moves a team forward. I manage engineering teams, and I like solving problems that sit where reliability, security, and backend engineering meet. My approach is simple: understand the system, understand the people, remove the friction, and let teams do their best work.

I like direct communication and decisions backed by real data. When something is ambiguous, I push to make it clear. When something is inefficient, I fix it. When ownership is missing, I draw the lines so everyone knows where they stand.

Outside the day to day, I write about engineering leadership, platform thinking, and the lessons that come from building reliable systems with real teams under real constraints. My goal is the same in writing as it is at work; make things easier to understand and easier to act on.

Strengths, with evidence

Reliability and incident management: Rolled out an SRE operating model at TIDAL that reduced MTTR by 50% and lifted reliability scores by 80% across 14 product teams. Designed the incident management practice at Paymenttools and now at RBIH.
Platform engineering and automation: Automated provisioning across 20+ data centers at PlayStation. At Paymenttools, built Rift for declarative code changes across thousands of GitHub repositories, and a runbook runner that turns static operational docs into guided, auditable workflows.
Observability and cost: Cut log spend by 30% and total observability cost by 12% through observability governance at TIDAL. Built an observability stack at PlayStation ingesting 300+ GB/day of metrics for 100K+ servers.
Edge and networking: Delivered multi-CDN edge compute across Fastly, Cloudflare, and CloudFront, cutting CDN costs by 12%, and replaced AWS App Mesh with Consul for service discovery.
Security and compliance: At RBIH, I drive engineering-side security and compliance readiness: security audits, vulnerability assessments, and Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act obligations. See the experience timeline.
Leading teams: Led a 6-person SRE team at TIDAL, led and mentored SRE and Security engineers at Paymenttools, and rolled out SRE practices across 9 product teams there. At RBIH I am part of the CTO's engineering leadership team and hire for DevOps and MLOps roles.

Outside of Work

When I am not debugging platforms, you can find me writing about leadership and open source, speaking at community events, or hiking with my camera. I am always up for collaborating on talks or mentoring emerging engineering leaders.
